The Wizard of Oz references were everywhere. Seattle is, after all, the Emerald City. And, while Jon Lester was not wearing Ruby Slippers, he was sporting bright yellow spikes—you know, like The Yellow Brick Road. In any event, the Red Sox overcame a three-run deficit to defeat the Mariners 4-3 and end a seven-game losing streak. Their 63rd win guarantees they won't lose 100 games in 2012. Hey, don't laugh! Jon Lester persevered for six innings to get his ninth win—and lowered his ERA to 4.99. Cody Ross hit a huge 3-run HR in the 6th (his 20th) and Ryan Lavarnway clouted his first to account for all four runs. 25-0 run? Who knows?
