The Red Sox organization did itself proud with
yesterday's moving tribute to the late Sox legend Johnny Pesky. An impressive array of current and former players turned out to say goodbye to the man who spent 70 years with the organization. From
Roger Clemens to
Will Middlebrooks, they spoke of Johnny's devotion to the team and the fans. At the end of the ceremony, each player laid a red rose by the symbolic number "6" on the Fenway infield. The great
Dick Flavin left everyone with this fitting bit of poetry: “The game of life’s what counts with you, we have got your measure, farewell, we love you Johnny, you’re a Boston treasure.”
