The Newest Red Sox Backstop? |
I bet you didn't see this one coming.
The Red Sox made a trade today with the Seattle Mariners for 30-year old catcher Guillermo Quiroz. Why, you ask? Honestly, we don't have a clue—unless a deal is in the works for Jarrod Saltalamacchia or Ryan Lavarnway. Or maybe not. Quiroz has had—at best—a mediocre career in the bigs. Over seven seasons, he's hitting .208 with 2 HRs. He did, however, hit well in AAA this season. Still, what the heck?
