Aaron Cook could not get out of the fifth inning—or get past Detroit's Double Whammy of offense (Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder). The two went back-to-back to help
power the Tabbys past a rallying Boston, 7-5. The Boston bullpen went 4 1/3 innings beyond that point, giving up just one more earned run. Carl Crawford homered again and Will Middlebrooks, Cody Ross and Pedro Ciriaco had RBI hits. The loss dropped Boston to just one game over .500 and 8.5 back of the Evil Ones.
