Wow, this current regime sure knows how to make deals!
The Red Sox acquired right-handed relief pitcher Pedro Beato from the Metropolitans in exchange for Kelly Shoppach. The "Player To Be Named Later" has compiled a searing 10.38 ERA since being being called up to Flushing. A former RULE 5 draftee, Beato did not break camp with the Mets when they departed Port St. Lucie this year. Nice pick-up.
