Doctors have determined that Red Sox rookie phenom
Will Middlebrooks will not need surgery on his fractured wrist. The belief is that three weeks or so of rest should be enough to heal the injury properly. This is good news for the third baseman and the Red Sox—who may get Middlebrooks back before the end of the season.
