Two left-handers—
Jon Lester and
Adrian Gonzalez—provided most of the impetus to
send the Pinstriped Posers to defeat today, 4-1. For the second straight start, Lester was boderline dominant—giving up just one earned run in seven strong innings. Gonzo went yard for the 14th time in the first, giving the Carmine Hose a rare early lead (2-0). Nick Punto contributed a big RBI double and was Brooks Robinson-like at third in his best game of 2012. The win brought Boston to within three games of the .500 mark and puts them six full games off the Wild Card pace.
