Until yesterday, the Red Sox had been 0-5 in extra inning games in 2012. Thanks to Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz, that situation didn't get worse, as
the Sox came back to beat Seattle, 2-1. The win gave Boston a split of the series. If they'd lost, it would have been the first time a Seattle team won a four-game series against the Red Sox since 1986. The Muddy Chicken tied the game in the 8th with a solo shot, and set up the game-winning Sac Fly by Papi with a single moving Kalish (who had a pinch-hit double) to third. Aceves closed out the win with clean 1-2-3 bottom of the 10th.
