The only think keeping the Red Sox out of
sole possession of last place is a 16-0 blowout of the Blue Jays. Other than that, Boston choked away another early lead (2-0) en route to
an eventual 5-3 loss to the Rangers. Josh Beckett was just tantalizing good enough to lose—surrendering a 2-0 advantage by immediately giving back three Texas runs. Once his teammates had tied it, he promptly set the stage for another deficit. Stop me when you've heard all of this before. Home runs by Will Middlebrooks and Dustin Pedroia were not enough to stave off defeat for the 49-50 Carmine Hose. Just wonderful.
