According to reports, the Red Sox scouted
Zack Greinke's impressive start on Tuesday night against the Phillies—with an eye to
entering the bidding on the the Brewer right-hander. The names mentioned as possible trade bait from Boston are #1 prospect
Xander Bogaerts (SS), #2 prospect
Matt Barnes (SP) and #11 prospect
Anthony Ranaudo (SP). It's unclear what combination of these prospects would do the trick on getting the 28-year old pitcher. Greinke is 85-76 in nine major league seasons, with an ERA of 3.79. He has given up exactly the same number of hits as innings pitched over that span. He's also walked only 353 batters and struck out 1,254—an excellent 3.5:1 ratio.
