With the A's young ace Jarrod Parker on the mound, it's too bad we didn't have one of
our two aces going—you know, Franklin Morales or Aaron Cook. Unfortunately, we had Daisuke Matsuzaka on the bump, and he was about as horrendous as you can be, yielding five earned runs in one inning plus, allowing
Oakland to smoke Boston, 6-1. Two former Boston outfielders—
Josh Reddick and
Brandon Moss—homered on the first pitch they saw from the dejected Dice-K, putting the game out of reach for the likes of the mighty Nick Punto. Dice-K complained of discomfort in the trapezius muscle of his neck, but this debacle seemed more than physical. Some—
like WEEI.com's Alex Speier—suggest this is the end for Matsuzaka in Boston. The Dice-K Experiment is probably over.
