Pedro Shows Tampa Bay Who's Their Daddy

Pedro Ciriaco Stays Hot; Goes 3-3
Pedro Ciriaco is no Spring Chicken. The 26-year old journeyman, picked off the Pirates scrap-heap, did it again tonight—going 3 for 3, with a sacrifice, two RBIs and a stolen base. The guy is only hitting .625 since his call-up. The only other offensive force for Boston was (who else?) David Ortiz, who cranked his 401st career home run—a spinning, bat-flipping bomb into the depths of the OJ-Dome. Franklin Morales had another one of his head-shaking starts, going 5 innings with no earned runs, but running his pitch count to a ridiculous 95 pitches. The lefty improved to 2-2 with a 3.16 ERA. The win moved Boston over .500 (44-43) and out of the AL East cellar.
