Pedey Goes 'La Luna' As Sox Tame Tigers, 7-3

Michael Dwyer / AP
Clay Buchholz pitched 8 solid innings (after giving up a HR on his second pitch of the game) and Dustin Pedroia hit a clutch go-ahead 2-run homer, as Boston beat Detroit tonight, 7-3. Will Middlebrooks later clouted his 13th HR—the most by a Sox rookie since Brian Daubach—to put the game effectively out of reach. For some reason, the Red Sox have dominated teams in the American League Central—now sitting at 17-9. So, yet again, the Carmine Hose of 2012 are over .500 (52-51), and have nine more games on this homestand to prove to their fans that they have some heart.
