Papi De-Booted; Ready For August 1 Return?

Charles Krupa / AP
David Ortiz confirmed to WEEI.com's Rob Bradford that he was given clearance on Tuesday to remove the protective boot that was shielding his injured Achilles tendon. He also stated that the injury will be re-evaluated on Friday. He could take swings as early as the week-end and be back by the scheduled date of August 1st. Obviously good news, as the Papi-less Red Sox are an offensive basket case.
