David Ortiz had an MRI done on his heel/Achilles tendon area and emerged stating, "I'm in a lot of pain". While the results of the test are not yet in, this does not sound like the "three or four day" recuperation suggested by Bobby Valentine last night. Obviously, the Red Sox can ill afford to lose their most productive offensive force for any extended period of time. If he hits the DL, Ryan Lavarnway should immediately be called up to serve as DH/back-up catcher—particularly if the rumors are true about the Mets being interested in current back-up catcher Kelly Shoppach.
