Wedding proposals on electronic scoreboards are nothing new. They have been around for many years. But, how about a big Romantic Moment just seconds prior to the Seventh Inning Stretch? Now, that's different. Well, long before anyone ever heard of an Electronic Scoreboard I made my big Romantic Moment way way back in 1964. I took my girl Theresa to see her very first baseball game. She wanted to go to the famous Fenway Park. So, we were off to Boston and there we were along with tens of thousands of fans. I don't remember who the Sox played or the score but before the crowd rose for the seventh inning stretch, I made my romantic move that has led to our life long bliss of 47 years of marriage. This is the song I just wrote about that wonderful moment. Who needs electronic scoreboards? Read the song lyrics below for what happened.
THAT SEVENTH INNING STRETCH
I TOOK MY GIRL TO FENWAY IN SIXTY FOUR
SHE HADN'T BEEN TO A BASEBALL GAME BEFORE
CAN'T REMEMBER WHO THE SOX PLAYED OR THE SCORE
BUT LOVE'S FIRE WORKS BURST IN THE SEVENTH AND MORE
BEFORE THE STRETCH I SAID THERESA WATCH ME
I'LL MAKE THIS FENWAY CROWD STAND INSTANTLY
I RAISED MY ARMS LIKE MOSES PARTING THE RED SEA
OVER THIRTY THOUSAND ROSE MAGICALLY
CHORUS
IN THAT SEVENTH INNING STRETCH OF THAT GAME
I MADE IT INTO THERESA'S HALL OF FAME
I BECAME HER BASEBALL GOD THAT DAY
AT LEAST UNTIL THE WONDER WORE AWAY
WE MARRIED IN NINETEEN SIXTY FIVE
THOSE MEMORIES STILL GLOW ALIVE
WAS SHE UNAWARE OF THE STRETCH
OR WAS SHE HOOKING ME AS HER CATCH?
REPEAT CHORUS
WAS SHE UNAWARE OF THAT STRETCH
OR WAS SHE HOOKING ME AS HER CATCH?
WHEN I ASK SHE ONLY SMILES AND GIVES A KISS
THAT STRETCH HAS LED TO OUR LIFE LONG BLISS
FADE WITH LAST LINE Repeated ONCE
YAH, THAT STRETCH HAS LED TO OUR LIFE LONG BLISS
