Turns out the Miami Marlins were serious about their fire sale—
sending former Red Sox prospect and 2006 Rookie Of The Year Hanley Ramirez to the Dodgers. Miami also sent reliever Randy Choate to La-La Land, and got back prized starting pitcher Nate Eovaldi and a minor-leaguer. Sounds like Ramirez would have easily been within reach of the Red Sox had they wanted him—but apparently, they still have faith in Jose Iglesias as the shortstop of the (near) future.
