In a normal year, with a team that had a normal amount of injuries, the news of
Jacoby Ellsbury taking a day off would not be troubling. In 2012, on the Boston Red Sox, it sets off alarm bells. Barely a week back from a long DL stint, Ellsbury needs a "planned day off". Couldn't we all use one? But, we regular plebeians don't get them. Why should Ellsbury? See, just the kind of thinking that goes along with mediocre team fandom. That's us!
