Jair Jurrjens had a 9.37 ERA at AAA in four rehab starts, but to the Red Sox, he was Cy Young. Boston manged just three hits off the righty, stumbling to a
4-1 loss. The defeat stopped a five-game winning streak and kept the Sox 5.5 back of New York—and tied for last place with Toronto. Jon Lester was mediocre again, giving up two-out hits like they were commemorative Fenway sellout balls. Lester still has not mastered fastball command—the last step in his once again becoming an elite hurler. That day can't come soon enough for the Red Sox.
