Josh Johnson was better than Josh Beckett. Simple as that. Despite retiring 14 Marlins in a row later in the game, it was early on that Beckett let the game get away from the Red Sox (
4-1 loss). Down 4-0 against an elite pitcher like Johnson is just too much for this Boston team. Beckett's curveball—usually one of his best pitches—was eminently hittable, as was demonstrated by the first hitter of the game tripling into the gap. To add insult to injury, the Marlins played highlights of the Heat's victory over the C's on the big board. This season is rapidly getting away from the Carmine Hose—no matter what the Pink Hats and Pom-Pom boys think.
