Bailey, Crawford, Ellsbury Confound Media

For a team that's subjected to as much scrutiny as a Kardashian family member, you would think the average fan would know something about the ongoing injury status of Jacoby Ellsbury, Carl Crawford and Andrew Bailey. But as days pass to weeks, and weeks to months, the vaunted scribes of the mainstream sports media simply recycle the drivel from Red Sox official press releases. This is reporting? If you scour Al Gore's invention (that would be the Internet), all you come up with is the following:

Ellsbury: "(partial right shoulder dislocation) went on the 15-day disabled list April 14, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 13. He will treat the injury through rest and rehabilitation. He won't return when he is first eligible in mid-June..."

Crawford: "(arthroscopic left wrist surgery in January 2012) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 26, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 3. He was diagnosed with an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament. There is no timetable for his return."

Bailey: "(right thumb surgery) went on the 60-day disabled list April 4, the Red Sox don't expect him to return until after the All-Star break."

This is all we've got, folks. The KGB under Vladimir Putin was more forthcoming than this. So, again, where are the Red Sox beat guys, and why aren't they battering down BenCher's door demanding more of an explanation?
