Ironically, Clay Buchholz pitched his best game of the year. He went five plus innings and gave up just two runs. One of those runs came across on a balk—one of three on the night for Boston (who lead the majors with 6 this year). The other was on perhaps the shortest sacrifice fly in MLB history—misplayed by Cody Ross as he lost the ball in the ceiling of what is laughably called a ballpark in Tampa. The Red Sox lone run was plated on a single by the red-hot Daniel Nava. Jarrod Saltalamacchia went 2 for 4 with a double to continue his recent success at the plate. The bottom line, though, is
a bizarre loss (2-1) to a division rival—and the end of the 5-game winning streak.
