Red Sox Flush Royals With 'Will' Power

Bryce who? The Red Sox have thrust their own rookie onto the MLB stage, as Will Middlebrooks homered twice (his third overall) to lead his team to a much-needed 11-5 victory over Kansas City. Midlebrooks is now hitting a toasty .380 with 9 RBI in his brief career. David Ortiz remained smoking hot, with three more hits—including his 7th jack. The Muddy Chicken also went yard—along with walking three times and doubling. Felix Doubront was only marginally better than his starting peers, going 6 1/3 innings and yielding five runs (four earned). He walked three and struck out two. All in all, this might be the game we all remember as the start of the Middlebrooks Era—not to mention a winning streak.
