The pattern is becoming revoltingly familiar. Starters lose multiple leads, hitters are futile with runners in scoring position, bullpen is just not good enough. Result? Losses to the likes of the Orioles and A's—
at home. True to form,
the Red Sox lost another one—this time to Baltimore, 6-4 in 13 innings. Jon Lester blew leads of 1-0 and 3-1 in a very non-ace-like six innings. He did have a 4-3 lead upon exiting, but (altogether now) the bullpen blew that lead. This was a 'must-win loss' that is indicative of this team's lack of drive. Our Carmine Hose are now a woeful 11-14—seven full games behind division- leading Tampa. Yikes.
