The enigmatic doings of Red Sox management continue, as, in one fell swoop, they:
• Sent Lars Anderson to Pawtucket;
• Brought up Jose Iglesias from Pawtucket;
• Sent Junichi Tazawa to Pawtucket;
• Did nothing to purchase Aaron Cook's contract by the midnight deadline.
Can anyone out there make heads or tails of these transactions? I get Iglesias coming up to cover for an ailing Youkilis (Middlebrooks hurt his thumb), but why they passed on Cook is a major mystery. Now, the veteran can opt out by midnight tonight and join any team willing to put him in a rotation (the Red Sox apparently are not).
