Early Word On Jacoby Avoids Surgery

Early, but not definitive, indications suggest that Sox star Jacoby Ellsbury will avoid season-ending surgery, and can return in 6-8 weeks with just rehabilitation on his subluxed right shoulder. If these reports are accurate, it will likely mean that Boston will not pursue an outfield alternative like 2007 World Champion Coco Crisp. Of course, we have to remember that the intelligence we're getting is still from the highly questionable Red Sox medical team—although renowned Dr. Lewis Yocum is now involved in the process of evaluation.
