The Captain Turns Forty Today

Tek At LLWS
With all the attention to Black April, we shouldn't forget that our erstwhile Captain, Jason Varitek turns 40 today. With all of his 15 seasons played in Boston, Vartiek was the mortar between the pitching bricks—guiding hurlers as diverse as Pedro Martinez and John "Wayback" Wasdin. He participated in 14 postseason series in those 15 years and caught a record 4 no-hitters (which would have been five had Curt Schilling not shaken him off in Oakland). Here's a tip of the hat to the Captain on his 40th.
