Sox Win Amidst NESN Screw-Ups

Depending on when you tuned in, you either saw parts of the Red Sox Grapefruit Opener, or the nifty graphic pictured on the right. NESN managed two extended outages during the inaugural broadcast from their state-of-the-art facilities at jetBlue Park. This is just another indication of NESN's second-rate status—light years behind YES or even the D.C. area's MASN Network. Not only do they have among the fewest Spring games on TV (in favor of such tripe as Everton Vs. Queens Park Rangers), but they can't even carry off an elemental telecast from Florida without two signal outages.

In the actual baseball game, Lars Anderson clouted a mammoth Grand Slam to lead the Red Sox to an 8-3 win over the Twinkies. Both Josh Beckett and Andrew Miller pitched effectively.
