Tomorrow, the Red Sox will open their Grapefruit League season with two exhibitions—against Northeastern University and Boston College. The team announced the lineups for each game, and there are a few surprises. For instance:
• David Ortiz will man first base in the nightcap;
• Punto will play 2B in the same game;
• Ellsbury will bat second in the opener—with Iglesias leading off and the Muddy Chicken hitting third;
• Lester will open against the Huskies and Doubront will start against the Eagles.
Of course, as far as we know, Bobby Valentine may still be preparing for the non-existent Boston University baseball nine. Terriers, Huskies—same thing.
