REVIEW—"MLB '12: The Show" Still Amazes

Once again this year, the good people at SONY allowed us to have an advance copy of the PlayStation 3 version of their highly popular video game, MLB '12: The Show. This year, our new FN Youth Board helped out in the evaluation—with Adam Bloom-Paicopolos taking the game through the "test flight" for 2012.

First of all, basic game play functions are still as solid as it gets—with less lag and more all around smoothness. While SONY continually tweaks the game to make it more and more realistic every year, they have so little room for improvement that you have to really look to see the upgrades. That's how good the franchise has been been for such a long time.

Our results show that—believe it or not—the graphics have actually improved. Bases, for example, are even more amazingly real looking. A little thing, but very cool nonetheless. As always, the soundtrack has been updated and is comprised of new artists this year. Overall, the 'Road to The Show' feature has also improved. 'Diamond Dynasty' brings a similar game mode as EA's Ultimate Team game mode, but it's just different enough, and better. It's also extremely enjoyable and refreshing to see and play with the new jerseys and enhanced parks of MLB '12: The Show. While you expect this every year, it's always fun.

The bottom line is it's still the best baseball video action out there—bar none. And, of course, it's even more impressive this year with A-Gon on the cover! You can order your copy of MLB '12: The Show HERE.
