New Wild Card Rules Penalize Higher Seed

Leave it to Bud Selig to screw up a potentially good thing. In today's official announcement of the new Wild Card scenario for 2012, MLB revealed that—in this first year only—the Division Series will be a 2-3 format, with the first two games in the stadium of the lower seed. So, the inferior team gets a two-game home series chance to gain a solid foothold in the series. The reason? The locked-in 2012 schedule necessitates eliminating the normal travel day for the standard 2-2-1 format (which MLB will revert to in 2013) Stupid!
