Lackey Says Talk Of Beer/Chicken Is 'Stupid'

John Lackey, perhaps the most vilified Red Sox player in decades, recently talked with Boston Globe writer Dan Shaughnessy in the clubhouse at jetBlue. When asked if Red Sox pitchers were treated unfairly during ChickenAndBeerGate, he offered the following:

“For sure. This is stupid to even bring it back up . . . Even talking about it right now is stupid, because it’s just bringing it back up."
Apparently, there is some sort of statute of limitations on dumb athlete behavior. But, followed-up the CHB, you never talked about it. Mr. Lackey retorts:

“And there’s a good reason for that. All you’re doing is re-hashing it. It kind of went away until you, right now . . . Guys having a beer after their start has been going on for the last 100 years. This is retarded. It’s not like we were sitting up there doing it every night. It’s not even close to what people think.’’

It looks as if someone still has a little bit of denial and resentment going on.
