ESPN Boston's Gordon Edes reports that
the Red Sox may be out of the running for the services of free-agent right-hander Edwin Jackson. Apparently, the Boston offer of 1-year and $5-6 million didn't quite fit Scot Boras' inflated view of the 28-year old—he is, after all, a .500 pitcher with a mid-4 ERA. Reportedly, Jackson has fielded "multiple" three-year offers—but this sure sounds like Boras Double-Speak. By the same token, the pickings are awfully slim on the starting pitching front, as the Red Sox continue their 'whistling-by-the-graveyard' off-season.
