In an interview with WEEI.com's Alex Speier,
Red Sox pitcher Aaron Cook expresses his view that he can make the 2012 Boston rotation. After multiple injuries derailed a promising career in Colorado, Cook is now healthy, fit and ready to re-connect with an old mentor—Boston's new pitching coach Bob McClure. Cook turned down a few guaranteed major league deals to accept a minor league gig with the Red Sox. He believes his "pitch-to-contact" sinker ball skills are back and can complement the mix of Beckett, Lester, Buchholz and Bard. It's a longshot, but having a Derek Lowe-type ground ball pitcher would be a nice addition. Given the fact that the Red Sox can't seem to pull the trigger on safer options, Cook may be our only internal hope.
