Cook Is Confident Of Making Sox Rotation

In an interview with WEEI.com's Alex Speier, Red Sox pitcher Aaron Cook expresses his view that he can make the 2012 Boston rotation. After multiple injuries derailed a promising career in Colorado, Cook is now healthy, fit and ready to re-connect with an old mentor—Boston's new pitching coach Bob McClure. Cook turned down a few guaranteed major league deals to accept a minor league gig with the Red Sox. He believes his "pitch-to-contact" sinker ball skills are back and can complement the mix of Beckett, Lester, Buchholz and Bard. It's a longshot, but having a Derek Lowe-type ground ball pitcher would be a nice addition. Given the fact that the Red Sox can't seem to pull the trigger on safer options, Cook may be our only internal hope.
