BenCher: Forget About Adding A Starter

Welcome to the new reality, Red Sox fans. You are now expected to accept a sub-par team on the field for 2012—with major question marks in the rotation, the outfield and at shortstop. Red Sox GM Ben Cherington admitted that—after whiffing on both Osawlt and Jackson—the team is unlikely to sign a starter (or any other significant player) before Spring Training. It's quite likely that this edition of the Carmine Hose will be worse than the crew that blew a 9-game Wild Card lead last year. Keep you eyes focused on the dazzling, shiny ball that is the Fenway Centennial—maybe you won't notice the lack of production on the field.
