Sox More Likely In On Soler Than Cespedes

According to the Globe's Nick Cafardo, the Red Sox may bid on the cheaper of two available Cuban defectors (big surprise there, right?). Boston is more likely to focus on the raw 19-year old center-fielder Jorge Soler than the seasoned, MLB-ready Yoennis Cespedes. The Red Sox can afford to wait for the talented Soler, since they won't be losing current center-fielder Jacoby Ellsbury until Scott Boras takes him public in 2014. By then, Soler (pictured) might be ready for prime time. It's sad, but with the parsimonious mindset of the NOG, we have to think in terms of letting franchise players like Ellsbury go into free agency. It's almost like living in Oakland.
