Sox May Be One Of Teams Eyeing Luke Scott
Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports in Baltimore reports that eleven teams are in on free-agent outfielder Luke Scott. The Red Sox, with a gaping hole still in right field, are likely one of those eleven. While Scott is another left-handed bat, his impressive power numbers prior to last year (an average of 25 HRs from 2008-2010) have got to be an attraction. Another drawback might be that Scott is primarily a left-fielder—although this could be a good excuse to move Carl Crawford to right—taking advantage of his speed in that more expansive part of Fenway. Of course, the tight purse-strings on Yawkey Way might obviate any such move. And, the final nail in the coffin is the fact that Scott holds some outspoken wacky political views that wouldn't fit with the NOG's liberal orthodoxy.
