Multiple reports suggest that the Red Sox are seriously looking at right-handed pitcher Vicente Padilla. The 34-year old is currently pitching in the Nicaraguan Winter League (no Contra or Noriega jokes, please). Padilla has pitched for four different teams over 13 seasons, compiling a 104-90 mark with a 4.31 ERA (mostly as a starter). He might be considered in a long relief role or filling in as a spot starter.
