Kevin Millwood, who the Red Sox released in August of last year (after toiling in AAA), is back on the market. The Rockies offered Millwood a $1 million incentive-laden deal, but the 37-year old wants a $3 million pact. Millwood was actually pretty effective after being spurned by Boston—winning four games for Colorado and posting a 3.98 ERA. Gee, do you think we could have used that last September? Theo famously defended the cutting of Millwood, "His stuff...wasn't going to play at the major-league level". Anyway, Millwood would perfectly fit the Red Sox new template of discount pitching. We would not be surprised if he becomes the latest K-Mart Blue Light Special very soon.
