Evil Empire Laps Sox With Pineda Deal

The Evil Ones pulled off a brilliant trade tonight that netted them one of the premier young starting pitchers in baseball. While the Red Sox continue to snooze on starters, the Empire acquired Michael Pineda from Seattle for Jesus Montero—the top New York catching prospect. Pineda immediately makes the Yankee rotation much more competitive with Boston. Pineda had a breakout rookie year, winning nine games and compiling a 3.74 ERA. The 22-year-old struck out 173 batters in 171 innings. Suddenly, winning a series against New York got a lot tougher—having to face C.C. and Pineda back-to-back. The Red Sox need to move to fill out their rotation with credible starters fast.
