Bobby Jenks Has Second Spinal Procedure
After an initial spinal decompression procedure was conducted in December at Mass. General, Bobby Jenks had a second procedure recently in a Phoenix-area hospital. Stop us if you've heard this Sox-related medical story line before. Jenks has been plagued with injuries since he arrived in Boston, and now will not be ready until at minimum sometime in March—well into Spring Training. Last year, Jenks hurled just 15 2/3 innings with Boston, compiling a horrific ERA of 6.32—striking out 17 and walking 13. While Jenks' role may not be as vital as it was last year (with the additions of Bailey and Melancon), he would be a nice seventh-inning weapon if healthy and effective.
