Alex Wilson Has His Eyes On The Big Prize
He was tabbed as the Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2011. He's 25 years old, and—in his own mind at least—he's ready for the jump to The Show. In a piece by Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal, Wilson exudes confidence in his ability to contribute to the big club sooner rather than later. With a plus fastball and slider, Wilson is ranked as the number fourteen Sox prospect overall by the influential soxprospects.com. He was 10-5 overall last year, when he split time between AA Portland and AAA Pawtucket. His ERA was in the low threes. If the fourth and fifth spots in the rotation are not solidified, and Wilson has a breakout Spring, he might be performing at Fenway in 2012 afterall.
