The Red Sox will not extend a long-term contract to Jacoby Ellsbury and will go with another year of arbitration eligibility. This despite his MVP-caliber season in 2011. Ellsbury will probably get a $5 million, one year deal for 2012.This is another troubling indication that Boston will not be able to afford Ellsbury once he hits free agency—thanks to deals made with John Lackey and Carl Crawford.
