Sox Tried To Get Soria From Royals

WEEI.com's Rob Bradford reports that the Red Sox had discussions with the Kansas City Royals about trading for closer Joakim Soria—a pitcher that Boston has coveted in the past. The 27-year old had the worst year of his career in 2011, but has a 'cheap owner-friendly' contract (get used to it, it's a new world, Sox fans). Supposedly, Kansas City's asking price was too high—reportedly a front-line starter.
