Sox To Meet C.J. Wilson's Reps In Dallas

The Globe's Michael Silverman Tweets that the Red Sox will meet with representatives of Texas left-handed starter C.J. Wilson at the Dallas Winter Meetings next week. Wilson is seeking a six-year deal in the neighborhood of $100-120 million. Given his shaky post-season performances (1-5, 4.82 ERA), we can't see any reason for pursuing another "iffy" starter for big bucks. To paraphrase the great Bob Ryan, "What is the fascination with C.J. Wilson?" Perhaps more important is the fact, also reported by Silverman, that Boston will meet with the agent for Roy Oswalt—a logical pick for the 4th or 5th spot in the rotation.
