The Evil Ones posted the highest bid and thus own exclusive rights to negotiate with the 29-year old this year. But, as Sherman suggests, he can return to Japan this season and become an unrestricted free agent (and presumably sign with the Red Sox) in 2013. Sounds a little far-fetched to us.
