Multiple reports suggest that the Blue Jays will be the winner in the bidding for Japanese pitching phenom Yu Darvish. The word is that Toronto placed a bid in excess of $50 million for the right to negotiate with Darvish. As you may recall from the Dice-K process, the posting bid goes to the Japanese team (in this case the Nippon Ham Fighters) and not the player. This will likely amount to a total package well over $100 million. If the Jays pull this off and then land Prince Fielder, the dynamic of the AL East will have been turned on its head.
