Jeremy Hermida—who had a cup of cappuccino with the Red Sox as their "fourth" outfielder—
was signed to a minor league deal by the San Diego Padres. Hermida was one of those "projects" that former GM Theo Epstein took a gamble on (for $3.3 Million). Always highly-touted as a "tools" guy, Hermida never really clicked in Beantown. Traded to Boston in November of 2009 for the eminently forgettable pitchers Jose Alvarez and Hunter Jones, Hermida hit .203 in 53 games with the Carmine Hose.
