Speaking to reporters at his
David Ortiz Children's Fund event in the Dominican Republic, Papi expressed the desire for the
"security" of a four-year deal from the Red Sox. If he truly holds to this desire, it seems highly unlikely that Boston would make such a commitment. It would be sad to see Big Papi's run in Boston end on what many fans—despite their love for him—would view as an unreasonable request. Let's hope he and his agent accept the arbitration that the Red Sox offered and he remains the 30/100 threat in the middle of the lineup for 2012.
