NOG Now May Breach Luxury Tax Threshold

It's Tuesday, so now the Red Sox claim they will go over the luxury tax threshold of $178 million—contradicting their earlier claims of belt-tightening. Don't you get the feeling that no one knows what they're doing over on Yawkey Way these days? The NOG has been getting bashed in the national media for a lack of urgency in filling their obvious holes this off-season. I guess they're starting to take notice of the criticism. This current flip-flop is reminiscent of the one we saw during the managerial search—you know, they were against experience before they were for it. Positively John Kerry-like! We'll probably have to wait a little longer to see which of these payroll modes they are really in. What a fun bunch of guys!
